To us Brazilians, Football (soccer) is the most important thing in the world. Cheering for our favorite team is an everyday preoccupation. When a child is born it will get a small tee shirt with the father's team colors, especially if it's a boy, then, later when he starts to walk, the father will give him a ball, and start coaching him in this very fine art, and most Brazilians will play football from infancy until they can't run any longer.
The games played by the professional teams are watched on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons at the stadiums or on TV, and cheerers for opposing teams will be nagging each other non stop.
