Mossoro – Rio Grande do Norte State
There is another hot spring in the north of Brazil in Mossoro, which was discovered by Petrobras while prospecting for oil. They drilled for oil, and found hot water (54' C/125'F) and handed it over to a private company who turned it into a nice resort and hotel.

Located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, 270 Kms north of Fortaleza, and about the same distance from Natal, the resort has 11 pools with gradually growing temperature.

There are many small oil wells producing in the region. And you will see the Sucker Rod pumps scattered in the fields along the roads. Also, Mossoro is the Brazilian capital of salt. The flat land along the ocean, and the sunny weather during most of the year is ideal for the production of salt in large shallow pools, where the water is pumped by windmills and dried by the hot sun. Also the permanent wind helps the evaporation and drives the windmill pumps consistently.
